Screaming Meme's Faux School...No Sew Curtains!

Screaming Easy Curtain Lesson...101

Welcome, my little budding students to Screaming Meme's Faux School...Where you learn to break the rules and make your own design ideas come alive easier ( or lazier.. ;)...)! I can see the twinkle in your eyes...And I can see new students! If you are new, make sure to go to Screaming Meme's and look up all the faux painting classes we have learned, so far! Yes, your awake and ready to learn...I will be teaching you how to make no sew curtains...So, let's get to it, class...Mary, in the back....I remember you from last year!...I'm watching you...so, pay attention ;)....

1) Measure your window and decide what length of curtain you would like to make..... Take your fabric and cut it to the length you need, leaving two to four inches for a curtain pocket... ( or if you plan on using the curtain clips...decide the length you'll need)... and two to six inches for a finished hem, if you want a hem. While you are cutting your fabric take your iron and turn it on high heat..... After cutting, lay the fabric on your ironing board....

2) (Note: If you want the pocket to have fabric at the top...like a ruffle....Add two strips of tape...to form a pocket)....Or Take your fusible tape and lay it across your fabric about two to four inches from the top..... Take the remaining fabric that is above the tape and fold it down so it rests on top of the tape.... This will make your rod pocket, so make sure it is the correct size. Iron over the fabric that is on top of the tape.... This will heat up the tape so that it sticks to the fabric making the curtain rod pocket. Iron from one side of the fabric to the other to get a creaseless seam.....

3) Go over the fabric several times to ensure that all the tape has fused to the fabric.... If you want to have a finished hem on the fabric use the same steps above except fold the fabric from the bottom and choose the length you want the hem to be.....Tada...we are done!

Okay, I'll get even more crafty in my next no sew lesson with how to make a store bought 84 inch curtain longer by adding a coordinating fabric to the bottom...or using fabric you have to create that same look! I'll see you in class...Mrs. Screaming Meme ;)
